National Convention

Seven Kentucky members along with seven seniors attended the National Convention of C.A.R. in Arlington, VA on April 16-18, 2010.  Kentucky members participated in Washington, DC tours, a National Board meeting, and all the general sessions of the convention.  The Kentucky State Society received 16 awards under the various national programs.  This was the most of any state society.  State President Josh Malone received the Gold level of the State President’s Merit Award while the Jack Jouett and Limestone Societies received the Gold level of the National Merit Award for local societies.  George Rogers Clark Society achieved the Red level with the Martin’s Fort, Long Hunters, and Green River Societies receiving the Honorable Mention level.  During the Saturday evening banquet, Limestone Society was recognized as the 3rd Most Outstanding Society in the Nation.  Senior State President Dr. Richard Clouse and new State President Mallory Clouse were installed at Mount Vernon along with the other national board members on Sunday morning.

76th State Conference

The 76th annual State Conference was held at the Lure Lodge at Lake Cumberland State Resort Park on April 2-3, 2010.  We had a record attendance of 65 members, seniors, and guests!  This included representation from six local societies.  On Friday evening members and seniors held their respective board meetings.  We also enjoyed a Chautauqua performance by Mel Hankla who portrayed early pioneer Simon Kenton.  On Saturday morning, State President Josh Malone presided at the business meeting which included officer, chairmen, and local society reports.  The 2010-11 state officers were also elected.  After a box lunch, many toured the Wolfe Creek National Fish Hatchery
